2014 marks my 16th year of volunteering in Perkiomen Valley School District, helping with the 5th Grade Quilt Project. Previous years can be found at Magic Touch & Her Community Service. This year I will be doing posts on the process for The Schwenksville Elementary School Quilt. Part 1 details the design process.
It all starts with a Theme.
Schwenksville Elementary 2014: Dr Seuss
Class Count: 4 classes, averaging 24 Students each
Inspiration:
The Plan:
This is the (rough) sketch I did to design the quilt. I think we can do it!
The fabric.
RJ Reynolds Fabric has a Dr Seuss series which Joann Fabric carries. Now to locate it in a store near me…
This years quilt will be an Art Quilt. The students will be using their artistic talents to draw on a square, or triangle, which will be 1/2 of their block. They can chose from their favorite Dr Seuss book: a quote, a character, or a title. I always look forward to seeing their finished block…
If I do a Block, this quote would be my choice.
Wonder if I would be able to fit it all in…
Off to find the fabric.
